Goals and Strategic Direction
IEE is committed to promoting harmony between technological progress and environmental preservation by integrating education, research, and innovation in the fields of energy and environment. With the overarching objective of fostering a sustainable future and developing a resilient human survival platform, the Institute has outlined the following short-term and long-term goals to strengthen academic excellence, research capacity, and practical impact within IUT and across the OI​​​C.

Short-term Goals
•    Introduce Postgraduate Degree Programs (M.Sc./M.Engg./PGD) designed to develop advanced technical capacity and research expertise in renewable energy systems within the OIC region. These programs will focus on key areas such as solar, wind, biomass, and energy storage technologies, alongside energy policy, grid integration, and sustainable system design.
•    Arrange short courses, seminars and webinars on emerging global trends in renewable energy, environmental policy, and sustainable technologies for preparing technically skilled manpower in the field of energy and environment to serve the OIC Member States in particular, and the global community in general.
•    Establish Institute laboratories for conducting cutting-edge research in energy conversion, storage, efficiency, and environmental technologies providing a platform for pioneering research and innovation. This will enable students and researchers to experiment with emerging technologies, hybrid storage solutions, and microgrid integration.
•    Introducing cleaner energy initiatives by a comprehensive clean energy roadmap across the university campus to transform IUT into a model of sustainability. Key initiatives include the installation of grid-tied solar rooftop systems, deployment of solar-powered street lighting, and promotion of energy-efficient appliances in academic and residential buildings.

Long-term Goals
•    Build industrial collaborations with leading high-tech industries to promote technology transfer and real-world application of research.
•    Offer professional consultancy and technical services to regional industries for process optimization, efficiency enhancement, and environmental compliance.
•    Explore collaborative opportunities for research and academic exchange with local and international universities and research organizations.
•    Introducing the IUT Energy and Environment Club to engage enthusiastic students in innovation and sustainability through idea competitions, project show casing etc.

Proposed activities of IEE IUT
Research Work, Masters programs, trade courses, consultancy and specialized infrastructure are only some of the services that we provide here.

1. IUT internal Research Collaboration: Involve the internal researchers of different departments of IUT with related project to IEE. In order to engage interested faculties from different departments, open call will be announced with relevant proposal. From each department, multiple faculties can join and contribute to the institute.
2. IUT external Research Collaboration: Create opportunities for the external individual researchers to be involved with IEE. Expert researchers and faculties from other institutions can contact and join to the institute as external researchers. They will join in different projects related to the scope of the institute.
3. Post-graduate program related to Energy and Environment: Offering post graduate degrees specially M.Sc. Engineering in recent relevant fields from IEE. In order to do that, different new and demanding courses will be developed by its members such as IoT based Smart Energy, Smart Grid, Climate Changes. This will attract the students from corporate level as well.
4. Optional/Elective Course related to Energy and Environment for B.Sc: Offering optional courses in undergraduate programs such as and specialized courses in post graduate level.
5. Certificate/Trade courses: Offering Certificate/Trade courses to build skilled technical people in the field of energy and environment.
6. Training offered by IEE: Organize different training opportunities to adopt the latest energy technologies to the technical and vocational level among the member states
7. Build IEE High Voltage Energy Laboratory : IEE has taken initiatives to establish a High Voltage Energy Laboratory equipped with modern technologies for studying and testing various high voltage equipment. The lab has already received some equipment, and others are in process for purchase. This lab will help students to learn with hands-on experience, gather knowledge for industry jobs etc. 
8. Consultancy Services: Offering consultancy service to Government and private level organization utilizing expert and relevant members of the Institute.
9. Applying different Research Grants: Utilizing the expert members, research grant will be applied to different bodies to enhance the research of the energy sectors
10. Negotiation with Bangladesh Government and OIC: Engagement of IEE with different Non-Government and Government bodies of host country, Bangladesh as well as the members states of OIC to flourish the efficient energy technologies to the development in national level and for the Muslim ummah.
